Make Up Artist Tips – Bridal Make-up
Here are some classic make up tips for brides.
Bridal make up should enhance your features, but still leave you looking like yourself….. just a more perfect, radiant version.
Flash photography emphasises pink tones in the skin, so be sure to use a yellow-toned foundation, even on very fair skin. Avoid foundations with a slightly pink tone.
Whilst you do want your foundation to give your skin a warm tone, don’t be tempted to choose one that is darker than your skin. A darker shade will tend to create a “mask” effect.
Alway moisturise your skin before applying foundation, even if you have oily skin, as this will give a more even coverage. Choose a non-greasy moisturiser, suitable for your skin type.
Applying your foundation – Use fingers or a foundation brush for medium coverage, or a sponge for a more transparent result. Delicately smooth foundation from the middle of the face to the sides, not forgetting the sides of the nose and under the eyes. Make sure to blend the foundation well around the jawline and down onto the neck.
Apply a few touches of concealer on any imperfections, redness, spots and dark circles. Carefully blend in to your foundation with a small brush.
Finish with a light dusting of translucent loose powder. This matifies the complexion, sets make-up and minimizes small skin imperfections. Apply it with a large powder brush.
If you are wearing a low cut gown, you can use a mineral powder foundation, brushed lightly over the neck and chest, or even a light dusting of a golden bronzing powder, but don’t over-do it!
Apply a few swirls of blusher onto the cheekbones with a large brush, then smile and apply a swirl of blush to the apples of the cheeks.
Use a highlighter in an ivory shade on the brow bone, just under the eyebrows, to make eyes pop. Shape and fill in any gaps in the eyebrows with a brow pencil that matches the colour of your eyebrows. Never use the pencil below the natural line of the eyebrow, as this will make you look as though you’re frowning. Always follow the natural line or go slightly above, as this will lift the eyes.
Apply a medium colour eye-shadow over the eyelids, taking it just above the socket line and blend well. Then apply a darker shade on the outer corners, close to the lashes, taking it around and under the lower lashes. Neutral, matte shades of brown, grey, mauve etc are best. If you want to use a brighter colour, just use it as an accent, maybe just to highlight the inner corners of the eyes, not as an overall colour. Finish off with water resistant mascara.
Line and fill in lips with a lip pencil that is close to the natural colour of your lips. Apply a creamy formula lipstick on top, with a lip brush. Avoid frosted and sparkly lipsticks. Also, nude and pale lip colours look washed out in photographs, so choose brighter shades of pink, rose and plum.
So, there we have some tips for a perfect, classic look for bridal make-up.
