Make Up Artist Secrets and Tips – Smoky Eyes

There is nothing sexier then dark, smoky eyes. Every woman should learn how to create this look for those special occasions when you truly must have the ‘wow’ factor.

First apply a little foundation and powder over your eyelid area. This will provide a good base, making it much easier to apply the shadow and blend it beautifully, and ensure your eyeshadow will last for hours.

Always use a good quality eyeshadow that is very compact.  Be careful not to use “dusty, powdery” eyeshadows, because the shadow will end up everywhere except on the eyes and create a very messy look. When you use good quality shadows they apply easily and cleanly, and blend well.

Dab a pale ivory highlighter over the protruding part of the brow bone, just under the centre of the eyebrow.  This will open up the eyes and create a brightening effect.

For dark, smoky eyes, apply the darkest eyeshadow to the eyelid, taking it just above the socket line, and around the under-eye area.  Use either a blending brush or sponge applicator and gently blend the edges of the shadow, avoiding any hard lines and corners. Then apply a kohl black pencil to the inner upper and lower eyelid rims, making sure to smudge it into the lash line and to soften any edges.

Next, give the eye some sparkle by applying a lighter colour, or some shimmer powder to the inner corner of the eye.
