Make Up Artist Secrets and Tips – Bronzer and Blusher
Bronzer – Instant Sunshine!
The one product that can give us an instant, healthy, sun-kissed look, is bronzer. It’s great for creating a golden glow to enhance your skin tone, without the harmful, aging effects of traditional tanning. Remember the following tips when choosing a bronzer:
Avoid choosing a bronzer that is too dark for your colouring. Bronzers should never be more than two shades darker than the skin’s natural tone. Choose a honey-coloured bronzer if you have fair skin. Copper shades look great on olive skin. Rich copper tones or gold flecked bronzer compliments dark skin.
Choose a cream formula if you have a dry skin tone, to prevent streaking. A powder texture works well for normal, combination and oily skins. Avoid using a liquid bronzer, as it is hard to control and can end up looking patchy.
Use your fingers or a make-up sponge to apply cream bronzers and use a blusher brush to apply powder bronzers. Remember to always blend well until there are no visible lines or edges.
Apply the bronzer where you would naturally catch the sun on your face – on top of the cheekbones, bridge of your nose and the tip of your chin. This will create a beautiful, natural sun-kissed look. Never apply bronzer over the entire face.
One of the main reasons why bronzers are so great to use during summer time is simply because we can control the intensity of the product. Remember that a little goes a long way. Also keep the rest of your make-up minimal for the best effect. Best Bronzer?…..click here
Blusher – In the Pink!
Most women do not use enough blusher, use it in the wrong place, or are afraid of using it at all! This is a pity because no other make-up product can give you an instant youthful lift and an impression of good health, like blusher. Blusher also enhances the cheekbones, creates a more contoured look and adds natural colour to the face.
It is important though to choose the correct colour to best suit your skin tone. There are some general guidelines: Use light pink or peach on fair skins, apricot or terra-cotta on olive skins, and coral or plums will look best on dark tones. You can also consider using a light bronzer instead of blusher, on darker tones.
Blusher is available in a variety of textures – pressed powder, cream and liquid. Powder blusher is easy to use and can be the most sheer. Cream formulas blend easily and create a beautiful sheen, but may not be suitable for oily skin. Liquid blusher tends to dry very quickly and therefore makes it difficult to control and blend.
A top tip is to use 2 shades of blusher – one slightly lighter and more neutral, and the other, a bit darker and brighter toned.
To apply, do remember to smile! Why? Smiling is the best way to find the apples of your cheeks, which is where we all naturally blush. Dust the neutral shade of blusher, in a swirling motion, onto the apples of cheeks with a big blusher brush. Blending up and out towards the hairline. Remember to start with the tiniest touch of blush and then gradually add more, if needed, to increase the intensity of the colour. This will create very natural cheeks.
Secondly, apply a pop of the brighter blush just onto the apples of cheeks, over the top of the neutral shade. Blend well, for a youthful, rosy blush.
